Our painted Viking shield features Huginn and Muninn, Odin’s two ravens. Huginn is the old Norse word for “thought” and Muninn is the old Norse word for “memory”. Every morning at sunrise he sends them off to fly throughout all of the nine realms to gather information on what is happening. It is constructed from thick wood and features a wooden grip and steel boss. It is edged with rawhide to protect from sword and axe cuts. This shield is a little on the light side for full contact re-enactment but is perfect for theatre and film work and great as a display piece.
